BEAM LESSON PLANS 

MINI TEAM (2HOURS) 30-35 MIN ROTATIONS

BEGIN WITH ALL GYMNASTS ON HIGH BEAM

*COACH SPOTS/CORRECTS FOR BODY SHAPES THROUGHOUT THESE DRILLS

10 MINUTES : (FROM BEAM COMPLEX #10)

  • RELEVE HOLD R & L  (Hold 10 secs/each side)
    • Find center, make body a straight line, find balance
    • focus is center, chin is level with beam
    • ribs under, bum down
  • RELEVE WALKS (Fwd/Back/Side R&L)
    • push through toes to walk
    • maintain straight line in releve
  • HORIZONTAL KICKS R &L
    • knees/hips are turned out
    • close foot close to base leg
    • hold body line, ribs down, hips under
    • focus end of beam with chin level with beam
  • BABY STRIDE LEAPS
    • this is for technique NOT  distance or split
    • plie in and out of the leap
    • body is pulling up, ribs down
  • 1/4 TURN PIVOT SEQUENCE
    • begin in lock R foot front
    • pivot 1/4 turn to side releve
    • pivot 1/4 turn to L lock
    • pivot 1/4 turn to side releve
    • pivot 1/4 turn to R Lock
    • REPEAT beginning with L foot lock

 

10 MINUTES : TECHNIQUE/FLEXIBILITY

*ALL STUDENTS ON HIGH BEAM OR ON FLOOR IF THEY CAN NOT SEE THIER ARMS IN THE MIRROR.

-5 MINUTES: ARM POSITION REVEIW

ARMS MOVE FLUIDLY THROUGH THE POSITIONS MARKING EACH ONE. FEET IN FIFTH, SHOULDERS DOWN, CHIP UP, RIBS DOWN.

  • HIGH "V"
  • SIDE MIDDLE
    • CIRCLE DOWN AND BACK
